Buying is easy, disposing it isn't !

First, let’s understand the difference between needs and wants. Humans need food and water to survive. All other categories, sub categories come under wants. All materialist things which we see around us are a byproduct of what humans want.
It’s quite saddening to see how people casually buy things without thinking of the carbon emissions it must have caused, or how difficult it would be to dispose of those things. Well, I would say that the education system is to blame for such kind of people's casual attitude towards the environment. If students are made aware of the environmental impact due to the carbon emissions, many things would change. They would be able to identify the difference between their needs and wants, which would eventually make them aware of the things which they should and shouldn’t buy, keeping the environmental impact in mind.
Shocking fact, the world produces 3.5 million tons of plastic and other solid waste a day, 10 times the amount a century ago. Only 1 - 2% of this waste is recycled, and rest everything is dumped into the ocean. This affects marine life in a way that it kills them, if they eat that plastic. Also, recycling isn’t possible without generating smoke. This hazardous smoke not only affects the health of the birds, but also disrupts their habitat.
All in all, it is not possible to put a restriction on production of each and every thing which causes, or which will cause carbon emissions. What we can do is, we can restrict ourselves from buying these things, by understanding the environmental impact which it causes. So, THINK BEFORE YOU BUY!
